Make the move to the smoothest LCD action ever. Samsung’s LN55C650 LCD HDTV offers incredible color and rich clarity, all on a 55-inch screen. Add the power of Samsung’s Wide Color Enhancer, for a picture that optimizes a given color’s hue, resulting in more natural rendering of colors and lifelike action.
Samsung HDTVs are also ENERGY STAR compliant, helping the environment by using less energy while saving you money. The Samsung C650 Series is a dream come true for budget minded buyers who seek solid image quality in a connected HDTV with advanced features.
The Samsung LN55C650 LCD HDTV is a smooth operator: 120 Hz Clear Motion Rate technology allows you to see fast action with a smoothness that’s clearly ahead of the competition. The All Share feature even allows you to sync up your entire household: A wired or wireless DLNA connection lets you stream your PC audio and video files to your HDTV using your remote. And Samsung’s Touch of Color design combines texture and color that will complement any décor.
When it comes to image quality and overall performance, the Samsung LN55C650 shines. Colours are bright and spot-on accurate, and greyscale performance is top-notch.
CCFL LCD HDTVs are not known for their power-saving characteristics, particularly when compared with the latest crop of energy-efficient LED-backlit models, but the LN55C650 is still relatively inexpensive to operate. It drew an average of 178 watts while displaying HD content from a Blu-ray player.
The Samsung LN55C650 offers Internet@TV, which delivers the best of the web straight to your HDTV, with downloadable widgets and apps like BLOCKBUSTER, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, Pandora and more. You can shop online, share pictures, catch up with friends and connect to a wide range of streaming digital content at the touch of a button. It also has wireless LAN built-in. Add to that All Share, which enables content to be seamlessly streamed between DLNA devices, allowing you to play files stored on your PC or even to use your telephone through your TV.
Enable the SRS TruSurround HD which delivers a credible albeit simulated multi-channel audio experience, and SRS TruDialog, which allows you to boost vocal output to be better-heard over background sounds and music. There’s also an equalizer so you can create your own sound profile. Be impressed with the Samsung LN55C650’s audio output; the two 15-watts, down-firing speakers are very loud.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Samsung LN55C650
The Sound menu offers five audio presets (Standard, Music, Movie, Clear Voice, and Amplify) that use various bass and treble levels for specific applications.
Image adjustment options are plentiful. Four picture modes include Standard, Dynamic, Natural, and Movie, with the latter being the best choice for movies and broadcast TV.
Other advanced settings include HDMI Black Level, Shadow Detail (to increase the brightness of dark objects), Gamma, White Balance, and Edge Enhancement.
One minor complaint is its slow response time. Another is the glass screen that reflects more light during the day, and gets quality picture at night or with lesser amount of light.
Another minor gripe is the labelling which was used to identify the five touch-sensitive controls located on the right side of the lower bezel is too small and too dark, rendering it virtually unreadable unless you happen to keep a flashlight handy. You’re better off using the bundled 8.25-inch remote control for all of your adjustments, as it features 43 good-size backlit buttons plus a rocker switch, all of which are clearly marked and responsive.
